The transfer of .at domains is free. The transferred domain name will get billed the first time after the paid period of your old provider has expired. The end date of the paid period is visible in your Customer Center after the transfer is completed. Information about the runtime of domains not managed by us is not possible. To get that information you need to contact your current provider or Nic.at directly.
How are .at domains renewed or terminated?
.at domains are automatically renewed by default. You will receive a notification about the upcoming expiry date 90, 60, 30, and 14 days before expiration. In order to be able to renew a .at domain, sufficient credit on the customer's account is required. All notifications will therefore also include the current balance and the amount required for renewal. The address for delivering these notifications can be set in the customer-center. If a domain name is no longer to be renewed, it can be terminated without bureaucracy in the customer center. This assumes that the account holder is also the domain owner. If this is not the case, termination is possible in writing by the domain owner via our cancelation form.
What happens if there's no reaction to the renewal notifications?
If the customer account does not have the required balance during the extension period of the domain name, no automatic renewal can take place. In this case, the .at domain will be transferred to the direct administration of Nic.at GmbH at the end of the domain year booked with us. The fee for the domain renewal will then be billed to the owner directly by the Registry Nic.at GmbH. An automatic deletion at the end of the paid period is not possible at .at domains due to following reason: With the registration of a .at domain, the domain owner always concludes a direct contract with Nic.at GmbH. A deletion is therefore only possible by orderly termination.
